The Spiritual Gift Assessment section of S.H.A.P.E. will assist you in discovering how God has begun to equip you to minister.

Because we have tried to separate a person’s natural talent, heart, and personality from his or her spiritual gift(s), this assessment is for Christians and is probably very different than any other assessment that you have taken.

The goal of this assessment is to help you discover the spiritual gifts given to you for the use of advancing the Kingdom of God. It is good to understand the difference between a spiritual gift and a talent, which is used for personal use and recognition. For example, Moses had a shepherd’s rod to tend sheep for his own use. Moses was probably a knowledgeable, talented, and profitable shepherd. However, this talented shepherd and his shepherd’s rod did not become a spiritual force until God told Moses to give Him his shepherd’s rod. A shepherd used his rod to draw sheep close together, to grab a lamb out for close inspection, and to keep the herd moving in the safe path intended by the shepherd. A shepherd knew how to use his rod masterfully, and this made the shepherd’s rod the most valued work instrument he could have. God asked Moses to give Him his rod and then to pick it back up again. After this, Moses’ rod became known as the staff of God, which became a spiritual force with which to be reckoned. (Exodus 4:1-20)

We can have all the knowledge and talent in the world that we use for our own business and pleasure. However, God wants us to lay it down and give it to Him, as He had Moses do. This allows God to bless our talent as a spiritual gift for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Until this happens, our acquired knowledge and ability is just a talent we use to build our own kingdom.

If you feel like you have too little to offer, then read what the Scriptures say and realize that the Spirit of God has filled all repentant believers with His perfect Spirit and gift(s) when they became a new creation in Christ. (Acts 2:37-38; 2 Corinthian 5:17; James 1:17; Ephesians 2:8-10)

Please take your time and answer each assessment question. The results will be given to you after you answer the questions as well as a file for a brief biblical definition of the Spiritual Gifts mentioned in the Bible.
