Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
By the grace of God, The Mercy Medical Ministry has served many in Jesus’ name. The past five years in O*** has gone fast. God called me to this highly persecuted state to be a nurse in the villages located in the mountains where there are no doctors.
Specifically, my Mercy Medical Ministry comes alongside the church planters helping them show love and kindness to the people. In five years, we have ran numerous medical camps, eye camps, and have seen God bring healing to many. This work of kindness helped the church planters plant five churches. Three are doing very well. Of course, there is always opposition in O***. Many people oppose the church. But God is in control. We show kindness. The Gospel is preached. We leave the results to Him.
VILLAGE MINISTRY: These days are thrilling for us but He is always faithful to protect us from the animals in the jungles and from evil people. One village is actually 75 kilometers away from where I am staying so up and down the mountains, it feels like 150 kilometers.
At the village, nine of them were baptized. Glory to God! Just before going to the baptism spot from the church, we lacked the van passes to the church. The Hindu official people came to visit the village. So with prayer, we quickly finished the baptism service and went to the medical camp. Performing the medical camp, we will get appreciation from the people but a baptism service might get us in trouble.
MEDICAL CAMPS: In one medical camp, a villager brought a lady who was over 95 years old. She had been fighting a fever for more than six months. No first aid medicine helped her. She could not walk in the jungle to be able to go to the hospital. So this villager was waiting for the day for her to leave this world. She had not had a bath (shower) for six months so I did not want to give her any trial medicines. Instead, I immediately checked her for the malaria fever with the malaria kit and she was positive. I started her on a malaria course of medication. A week later, I heard from the village coordinator that she was healed.
EYES CAMPS: On another thrilling day on mission, we held an eye camp in an distant village located 15 kilometers into the mountains. The road is rough, not nice to ride a bus on. By faith in Him and a big risk, we took the bus into the far mountains to have an eye camp. All of the sudden, five young men appeared with the intent to attack us. I explained to them that we exam people’s eyes. Out of many who were tested at the village, two were willing to come for surgery. These two were very happy and before they left the hospital, they wanted to take a picture with me. That was awesome!
This picture is of one of the eye camps. This lady was about to lose her sight. She had a severe eye infection with lots of pus inside her eye. We took her for surgery. God protected her eye. Glory to Jesus!
HEALTH CARE TEACHING: I have been teaching about hygiene and disease in churches, schools, and colleges. At a local mid school, I taught them so this younger generation can be equipped to have a healthy life. By equipping the children, we can save families from sickness and enable them to live healthier lives. When we went and approached the principal of the school, they were well pleased with us and gave us permission to teach them.
WHERE THERE IS NO DOCTOR: People are always visiting my house in the mountains with medical and spiritual needs. One time a woman, Mrs. S***, came to my house. She shared about her her husband, Mr. B***. She said, please pray for my husband. The doctors said we cannot save him from malaria. We have tried all the medicines. The results keep coming back positive and it has been many years. This couple had a son and a daughter. They lost the daughter to sunstroke in 2013. One day, the husband told his wife to please go back to your parent’s house and marry another man. It is enough that you have suffered with me all this time. I might die soon. After I die, you will be a widow. If you go now, you can marry with anyone so you can live with dignity. I felt so sorry for them. I went to visit them and started our medicine against malaria for three months. We also provided food. Our super healer JESUS healed him after three months. They went to the hospital. The test result came back that is he free from malaria. With the food provision, I gave him Nestle coffee. He liked so much he journeyed to my house and thanked me. He asked me to take a picture like this.
MY DAD IS PASSING: Currently, I am in the state called Tamil Nadu. My parents are elderly. The medical staff said my dad will pass soon. I came home to care for them. While here, I have had time to pray. I feel God is calling me to work in a nearby leprosy colony by starting a Leprosy Rehabilitation Home. Many of the leprosy patients struggle with the basic food and medical essentials they need for life. Society has rejected them. They feel unlovable.
LEPROSY COLONY: The leprosy colony that I believe God is calling me to has 150 singles and family units which are made up of husbands and wives. The children are studying in residential schools. This picture is of people who are able to walk. They come to the dining place.
People who cannot walk, stay in rooms in an area called the “sick ward”.
Mr. R***, who is 66 years old, had swollen feet and was suffering every time he tried to walk. We advised him not to keep his leg down. The next day, we sent him to the leprosy hospital for further treatment. He is doing well now. He is on high blood pressure medication. Praise God.
The leprosy colony is in a government built location and you can see how they live from the pictures. They only have room for 150 patients. The building is very old and broken down in many places.
Their basic needs are clothes, food, nutrition, and healthcare. The government will give them one set of clothing every six months. Of course, this is not enough but it does help. They do have some food. There is a enough for a poor meal three times a day. The colony receives chicken once a week. The remaining food items are vegetables. The food is enough to curb their hunger but there is not enough nutrition. They lack coffee, tea, and other things that we enjoy daily.
The government gives enough for medical supplies to dress the leprosy wounds twice a week. The dressings actually needed to be changed twice a day or at least once a day so medical care is not enough.
Leprosy Rehabilitation Home - The reason I want to start the home for them is that they do not feel loved or cared for. They live with sorrow, bitterness, and tears. We are only seeing these 150 people. There are many groups of 150s living in the streets and crying in hidden places. I want to give them a good home with love, care, and good food. I want them to live with dignity.
